Wednesday, Jan. 12, the BHS wrestling team fell to powerhouse Hudson, last year’s state champion. Hudson, eventual victor of the four-team meet, boasted some talented and experienced competitors.
However, Blissfield’s up-and-coming wrestlers showed promise at Jan. 13 Friday evening’s junior varsity meet at Clinton.
Cavin Beckey, Kyle Sell, Nate Bayer, Dylan Thompson and Jake Haley placed first in their respective weight classes.
Daniel Barta, Grant Mitchell, and Jake Bayer placed second, while Thomas Jackson took second place.
On Jan. 15 individual wrestlers competed in the Hudson Invitational.
Dalton Goetz placed first after beating the fifth-ranked wrestler in Division I.
“He wrestled great. The best I have ever seen from him,” said Coach Andy Ford.
