Blissfield fifth-graders took to the streets of downtown Blissfield Friday morning to plant flowers they had grown in the Blissfield Elementary Life Lab (BELL). 

Blissfield fifth-graders took to the streets of downtown Blissfield Friday morning to plant flowers they had grown in the Blissfield Elementary Life Lab (BELL). The annual event is the result of a partnership between BES and the Blissfield Downtown Development Authority (DDA).

Blissfield Village Council chooses Randy Kelley over Jae Guetschow and Gary Sullivan to fill vacant council position during the Jan. 10 regular meeting.

Monday night’s Blissfield Village Council meeting was uncharacteristically crowded. Supporters of the three candidates for the open council trustee seat, along with concerned Blissfield residents, piled into the auditorium of the Schultz-Holmes Memorial Library to see whom the councilmen would select to join their ranks. The candidates were former Village President Jae Guetschow, Planning Commission Chairman Randy Kelley, and Gary Sullivan, a teacher at Blissfield High School.

Nestled in Riga’s corn fields, Beaver’s Gust Road home features silver maple trees, fruit trees, dozens of varieties of flowers, and a water garden. Migrating monarch butterflies, on a journey most won’t survive, have decided to make Beaver’s yard a rest stop on the way from Canada to Mexico.
