The Blissfield boys basketball team squeezed out a win over Hudson Friday night at home. In a game where the momentum shifted with each quarter, the Royals managed to come out on top for a 60-58 victory.

The Blissfield girls basketball team dropped an LCAA game on the road Thursday, Jan. 19, at Onsted. After trailing the Royals in the first half, the Wildcats, led by the superlative Lexi Johnson, turned it on for a stunning 43-34 comeback.

The Blissfield boys basketball team overcame a squad of sharpshooters and an 11-point halftime deficit Friday night, Jan. 13, defeating the Lenawee Christian Cougars 65-59 in overtime.

The Whiteford boys posted a thrilling last-minute win over host Morenci  Tuesday evening, Jan. 10. After trailing the Bulldogs most of the game, the Bobcats, led by sophomore Colin Lake, came through in the clutch to win 62-59.
 
BRITTON DEERFIELD
Britton Deerfield handed Madison its first TCC loss Friday evening, Jan. 13, in a comeback victory on the road.
The win followed  a disappointing loss to Summerfield earlier in the week. BD was outshot by a slightly bigger Summerfield  team 67-44.

Last week was one of extremes for the Blissfield girls varsity basketball team, which lost by 18 points at Dundee and won by 26 at Hudson.
Tuesday, Jan. 10, Blissfield lost 56-38 to Dundee.
At Hudson Thursday, Jan. 12, Blissfield took an early and commanding lead. At halftime the Royals were up 27-9, and in the second half they cruised to a 49-23 finish.
WHITEFORD
Solid passing and nonstop scoring helped the Whiteford girls basketball team to a 64-29 blowout over the Morenci Bulldogs Tuesday, Jan. 10.

The Blissfield Hall of Fame committee is beginning its 2012 Hall of Fame selection process. The committee is currently seeking nominations for the Hall of Fame.

If you believe someone (athlete, coach, support staff) is worthy of consideration, please take the time to make the nomination.  In order for an athlete to be considered, they must be out of school for 10 years.  For a coach or support staff, they must be retired from their athletic duties.

BD girls bring A game to Blissfield

During last Tuesday’s girls basketball matchup, Blissfield floundered while the Britton Deerfield Patriots brought their A-game to the Royal court to win 59-42. 

During the Jan. 3 girls basketball matchup, Blissfield floundered while the Britton Deerfield Patriots brought their A-game to the Royal court to win 59-42. The Patriots’ mid-range game proved too much for the Royals, who were looking rusty in their first contest after the winter break.

In a fast-paced game with a lot of outside shooting by the opposing team, Britton Deerfield proved why having a big man underneath the basket can be important. 

In a fast-paced game with a lot of outside shooting by the opposing team, Britton Deerfield proved why having a big man underneath the basket can be important. BD defeated the Manchester Flying Dutchmen 87-77 Friday evening. Sophomore Devin Gruber, the big man on the team, racked up 21 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to help his team claim a victory.

Two Britton Deerfield players recorded a double-double in a fast paced no-conference basketball victory over the Manchester Flying Dutchmen.

Blissfield claims bragging rights in the battle for the best of east Lenawee County in basketball Wednesday evening.

 

Blissfield claims bragging rights in the battle for the best of east Lenawee County in basketball Wednesday evening. In a contest that was tied at half-time, the Royals claimed victory with a score of 56-45. Both Connor VandeCaveye and Devin Moore had 13 points for Blissfield. Eric Burnor led the Patriots with 12 points.

Blissfield remains perfect on the season at 5-0.

Whiteford Schools has hired Jason Mensing as its new varsity football coach.

Whiteford Schools has hired Jason Mensing as its new varsity football coach. Mensing who most recently coached four years at Tecumseh High School was hired Dec. 19 by the district and will replace Matt Garno who resigned after the end of the 2011 season.
