First-year varsity coach Craig Tanis is hoping his young team can compete seriously in the Tri-County this year. The Patriots were 3-11 in league play last year and 6-14 overall.

“We are young but quick,” Whiteford girls varsity coach Jay Haselschwerdt said about his team this year.

With only two seniors on the squad of 11 that also has one sophomore and a freshman on the roster, there is a lot of room to grow this year. But he is also expecting some solid leadership from his seniors this year as well.

In a special board meeting called by Blissfield Township Supervisor Lewis Bowman, Tuesday, the township board voted unanimously not to approve additional money to cover changes made to the new ladder truck that the township agreed to purchase in October. 

In a special board meeting called by Blissfield Township Supervisor Lewis Bowman, Tuesday, Jan. 3, the township board voted unanimously not to approve additional money to cover changes made to the new ladder truck that the township agreed to purchase in October.

The original price agreed upon by the township was $677,644.

Additional charges for approximately $16,000 were denied. An invoice was presented to the board at their December meeting that included the changes. The truck tentatively will arrive toward the end of January with payment due upon delivery.
