Blissfield High School celebrated Coming Home last week.

Blissfield High School celebrated Coming Home last week. A highlight of the week-long festivities was Friday night’s game and the half-time crowning of Shaunna Isakson and Alex Seidl as Coming Home queen and king.

BHS celebrates homecoming 2011

Homecoming week at Blissfield was filled with spirit week activities and fun including an event when BHS homecoming queen candidates fed the king candidates in a pie-eating contest.

Homecoming week at Blissfield was filled with spirit week activities and fun including an event when BHS homecoming queen candidates fed the king candidates in a pie-eating contest. The annual parade through town featured the band, floats, youth teams, alumni, king and queen candidates, last year's king and queen Eric Schmidt and Cierra Sell and more. BHS floats were the winning Freshmen “Too Fast, Too Fresh.” The Royals lost a heartbreaker on the football field, 15-14 to Onsted, on a rainy evening Sept. 30.

Lauralee Mlcek

Lauralee “Laurie” Ann Mlcek, age 73, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at the Charlotte Stephenson Manor of Adrian, Michigan. She went peacefully while under the care of Hospice of Lenawee County ending her long struggle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).

'The King and I' comes to WHS stage

WHITEFORD – The king of Siam will be making an appearance at Whiteford High School.

Well, not the real king. It’ll be Jay VanLoocke in the lead role of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “The King and I.” The production, with show times on March 25, 26, and 27, will be directed by Todd Schreiber.

Coming Home royalty crowned

Blissfield High School's Caitlyn Meszaros was crowned Coming Home Queen and Ean Sablich wore the crown of Coming Home King during Friday, Feb. 4's annual Coming Home event.

Blissfield High School's Caitlyn Meszaros was crowned Coming Home Queen and Ean Sablich wore the crown of Coming Home King during Friday, Feb. 4's annual Coming Home event. Though much of the week found students snowbound at home, they were back in school for the pep events Friday including an Iron Man volleyball game.

The Royals looked sluggish early but rebounded in a big way on home coming night. QB and homecoming king Eric Schmidt rushed for touchdowns of 23, one and 15 yards. He also threw an 11-yard TD strike to Noah Schultz. Dalton VasBinder rushed one in from nine yards out. Garrick May also scored on a 39-yard interception return. Blissfield can clinch a playoff spot with a win at home over Brooklyn Columbia Central (2-5) Friday night.

King Burwell, Queen Huddleston reign over Britton homecoming

BRITTON -- Britton’s homecoming half-time ceremony Friday night was highlighted by the crowning of this year’s fall royalty but the festivities included a salute to some notable grid teams from years past. The homecoming was celebrated as Britton’s with new partner Deerfield reserving a later date for its separate homecoming.
