The Blissfield girls basketball team dropped an LCAA game on the road Thursday, Jan. 19, at Onsted. After trailing the Royals in the first half, the Wildcats, led by the superlative Lexi Johnson, turned it on for a stunning 43-34 comeback.

BHS adds bowling as sport

Blissfield High School will see its first bowling team this winter, joining schools throughout Lenawee County, where programs have been springing up for seven years. 

Blissfield High School will see its first bowling team this winter, joining schools throughout Lenawee County, where programs have been springing up for seven years. The start-up club may take some time to get on its feet, but with the support of the school and the community, head coach Dennis Southwell is confident it will take off.

A heavy rain shower moving through Britton Friday afternoon about the time the BD Invitational almost ended the track meet before it started. But when the rain stopped the sun came out and created almost perfect conditions for a track meet.

    At 6 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, three Blissfield Rotarians — Bill Borchardt, Dr. Chris Mallow, Jerry Roessler, and one Rotary spouse, Jeff Sieler, headed out on a 30-plus hour road trip to the Laredo, Texas, border crossing to deliver a firetruck, which the club purchased, to the fire chief of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, for use in the poverty stricken area of the city.

Fisher, Daniels Pace Whiteford to TCC Title

The dynamic duo of freshman Rachel Fisher and sophomore Ashley Daniels finished 1-2 at the final Tri-County Conference meet of the season, hosted by Whitmore Lake.  Fisher and Daniels led Whiteford to its first TCC championship since 2006.

OK, so Summerfield and Hudson have their conferences basically wrapped up (watch out for Clinton, Summerfield). Now, it's all about the playoffs. Britton Deerfield needs to win out, a tall order with Summerfield still on the schedule. Blissfield needs to win two of three, and they should get the first tonight. Whiteford needs to win two of three, and it won't be easy because they've got Summerfield tonight. Last week, Eric May and I both went 5-2, missing the Blissfield and Dundee scores. So far, we're both 12-3.

Bobcats D saves the day

Whiteford's defense fights off the Aggies' attack in an important, 15-14 victory at Sand Creek.

                All year long, coach Matt Garno and his staff have been telling the Whiteford Bobcats that football is mental as much as it is physical.

                After Friday’s hard-fought 15-14 win over Sand Creek, Garno believes his team is getting the picture.
