PALMYRA – Gerald “Jerry” Sauter, age 82 of Palmyra, passed away Friday, April 20, 2012, at Provincial House. 

PALMYRA – Gerald “Jerry” Sauter, age 82 of Palmyra, passed away Friday, April 20, 2012, at Provincial House. He was born June 4, 1929, in Adrian, to Edward and Mary (Schwab) Sauter. Jerry married Onalee J. Hambrook on April 15, 1950, in Adrian and she survives.

ADRIAN – Robert Clark Britten, age 46, of Adrian, left to be with The Lord, Sunday, December 4, 2011, in Adrian.  He was born July 19, 1965, in Adrian, to Gordon E. and Mary Ann (Clark) Britten. On June 21, 2003, he married Cindy Mlcek in Adrian and she survives. He was a member of the Lenawee County Conservation club and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Dr. David W. Larson was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 26, 1924, and graduated from Cass Technical High School, Detroit.  

Dr. David W. Larson was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 26, 1924, and graduated from Cass Technical High School, Detroit.  David served his country by enlisting in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II.  He graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry and practiced for 35 successful years in Petersburg, Michigan.

DEERFIELD — Lana Lucielle (Hadesh) Millyard, 71, of Deerfield passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at the Lenawee Medical Care Facility in Adrian, Michigan surrounded by her family. She was born on August 15, 1940, in Blissfield, Michigan, the daughter of Emil and Dolores (Steih) Hadesh. On January 13, 1962, Lana was united in marriage to Robert Millyard at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Blissfield, Michigan. He survives.

Local observances of the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania include the following events:

DEERFIELD — The Deerfield American Legion is resuming their pancake breakfasts at the Legion on the second Sunday of each month. 
WHITEFORD TOWNSHIP — St. Michael Lutheran Church in Whiteford Township will have a community 9-11-2001 Remembrance Ceremony on the lawn of the church at 1 p.m. Sunday. 
ADRIAN — Siena Heights University will begin a week of remembering Sept. 11, 2011, with an outdoor prayer service at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6 at the flagpole in front of Sacred Heart Hall on the Adrian campus.

Hazel Jean Flaherty, age 95 of Manitou Beach, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2011, at her home.

Hazel Jean Flaherty, age 95 of Manitou Beach, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2011, at her home. She was lovingly and tenderly cared for by her daughter, Maggie, who never left her side. She was born on December 19, 1915 at the family farm near Alto, MI to Bernard and Cecilia (Haley) Flynn.

Lauralee “Laurie” Ann Mlcek, age 73, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at the Charlotte Stephenson Manor of Adrian, Michigan. She went peacefully while under the care of Hospice of Lenawee County ending her long struggle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).

St. Pete's and St. Al's Unite to Form Light of Christ Parish

Catholics from eastern Lenawee and western Monroe counties celebrated the official birth the Light of Christ Catholic Parish on Thursday, July 1.

The new parish comprises nearly 700 area families who were members of Blissfield’s St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church and Deerfield’s St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. The two churches merged to form the new parish and will continue to serve their communities.

Leaders of the new parish celebrated the occasion with a bevy of events and activities.

Catholics from eastern Lenawee and western Monroe counties celebrated the official birth the Light of Christ Catholic Parish on Thursday, July 1.

Lois Marie Munson

         DEERFIELD -- Lois Marie (Seiser) Munson, 83, of Deerfield, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 20, 2010 at her home.

        Lois was born on Feb. 28, 1927, the daughter of Alvin and Lamire (Ferris) LaPointe. She graduated from Blissfield High School in 1944, and was married on Feb. 10, 1944 to Robert Seiser, who preceded her in death in 1973. On Nov. 21, 1981 she was married to LaVern Munson, who preceded her in death in 2007.
