Girls’ Basketball, Jan. 25 edition

The Blissfield girls basketball team dropped an LCAA game on the road Thursday, Jan. 19, at Onsted. After trailing the Royals in the first half, the Wildcats, led by the superlative Lexi Johnson, turned it on for a stunning 43-34 comeback.

BOYS' BASKETBALL: Royals, Bobcats win two

The Blissfield boys hoop squad is already rolling right along. The Royals picked up a pair of wins last week, defeating the Sand Creek Aggies 48-34 and beating the Summerfield Bulldogs 62-43.

The Blissfield American Legion Post 325 baseball team claimed the District title with a pair of wins over Adrian Post 275 Saturday morning at Adrian College’s Nicolay Field. Both teams advance to this weekend’s Zone tournament.

New Coach Calling Audibles at Whiteford

ANN ARBOR – At a scrimmage in Ann Arbor Friday, that team in the maize and blue uniforms with the winged helmets looked very familiar. But it sure didn’t look like the Bobcats.

Led by Matt Garno, the first new head coach since the 1980s, the 2010 Whiteford football program is undergoing major reconstructive surgery. Change is everywhere you look.

Most noticeably, it’s the appearance. Gone are the blue uniforms and white helmets. In their place are the new maize and blue uniforms and the University of Michigan-style helmets.
