Dundee may not have had officials for the scheduled Friday night varsity football game, but the officials were there Saturday night when Blissfield returned looking for its first victory.
The Royals, however, returned to Blissfield still winless after a 28-13 loss to the host team.
In a TCC showdown with both football teams putting their 2-1 records on the line, the Whiteford Bobcats downed the Britton Deerfield visiting Patriots 30-0 Friday night.

There is no Friday night football score to report for the Blissfield-Dundee football game Friday night … because there was no game.
At game time, an announcement was made that the game would be delayed as officials had not yet arrived.
However, officials never showed up for the scheduled meeting. After 20 minutes, it was announced the game would be rescheduled for Saturday. At first, the time was to be 1 p.m., but because Blissfield had testing on Saturday, the time of the meeting will be at 7 p.m. Saturday evening in Dundee.

The Lady Royals volleyball team swept Dundee Tuesday evening, Sept. 17, 25-21, 26-24 and 25-23. The final two sets were nail-biters.

Blissfield soccer defeated Columbia Central 7-2 Monday, Sept. 16, then defeated Washtenaw Christian 6-3 Tuesday to go 4-0 in their homefield games thus far on the season.

The Blissfield varsity men’s soccer squad split their games last week with a 4-3 loss to Lenawee Christian, followed by a 3-1 victory over Hillsdale. Blissfield’s game against Quincy last Wednesday was canceled due to weather.

BLISSFIELD — The Blissfield Royal women placed second with 56 points in the first Lenawee County Athletic Association jamboree of the season hosted by Brooklyn/Columbia Central Sept. 10 with a new leader for the women. Freshman Isabel Cueto crossed the finish line first in the blazing heat for the Royals in a time of 22:46.98.
The Royal women’s cross country team followed up the league competition with the Fayette Eagle Invitational Saturday, Sept. 14, tying for second place with St. Ursula Academy. Abbey Zubke climbed back to the top of the Royal leader board with an 11th place finish with her fastest time of the season, clocking 21:36.

BLISSFIELD — The Blissfield varsity volleyball squad went to Hudson and thumped the Tigers in three straight sets for the victory last Tuesday, Sept. 10. The Lady Royals went on a roll with scores of 25-9, 25-21 and 25-14 to bring their season record to 9-3-2 on the season and 1-0 in the LCAA.
WHITEFORD — The Whiteford varsity volleyball squad has jumped out to a successful start of its 2013 campaign. The Lady Bobcats have pounced on the competition by sweeping Blissfield on the road 25-18, 25-21 and 25-21 Sept. 5. Whiteford went on to claim the crown in the Gold Division of the U of M Dearborn tournament Sept. 7. The Bobcats defeated Oakland Christian in the finals 25-16, 18-25 and 15-12.

A “Kids’ Challenge” has been added to expand the family appeal of the fall 5K trail run to will take place on the first day of fall Sunday, Sept. 22, near Blissfield. “First Day of Autumn Color Tour Trail Run” is a 5K run/walk to benefit the Miss River Raisin Festival Scholarship Program.
The event will take place on the Lenawee County championship cross country course at Gerber Hill Park, used by local high school athletes to determine the season’s best runners. In addition, a “Kids’ Challenge” will follow where children (and parents) may walk or run a non-competitive short course, collecting treats from costumed characters and scavenger hunt items in beautiful Gerber Hill Park.

When the Blissfield Athletic Department hosted the 2013 Blissfield Hall of Fame induction dinner Saturday, Sept. 14, Steve Cannon, class of 1978; Bonnie Brown, class of 1985; Rob Henning, class of 1988; Corey Horky, class of 1993; Juanita Navarro, class of 1999; Michael Melvin, class of 2002 and Denny Thompson, class of 1969, took their official place in Blissfield athletic history.

The Whiteford Bobcat cross country teams competed Sept. 3 in Hudson where the men’s team placed fifth and the women’s teams was sixth in competition. They also competed Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Tiffin Carnival, one of the largest cross country invitationals in the nation.
Blissfield women’s cross country team placed third at both the Erie Mason Relays and the Archbold Invitational last week. The Royals scored 57 points at Erie Mason Tuesday and 80 points in Archbold Saturday. The men’s runners put in solid performances despite not having enough to score as a team.
The Britton Deerfield varsity volleyball team hit the road for the Clinton Invitational Sept. 7. Despite coming off the win against the Cougars earlier in the week, BD was unable to find their winning ways and went 0-3 in pool play.
The Patriots fell to Ann Arbor Green Hills 20-25 and 13-25, followed by a loss to Blissfield 15-25 and 18-25, and finished with a losses to Manchester 5-25 and 18-25.
The Patriots pulled out a clutch win over Lenawee Christian Sept. 3, 3-2. BD held on for the win by scores of 22-25, 25-23, 25-20, 24-26 and 15-13. The victory puts the Lady Patriots’ record at 2-6-1 overall on the season and 0-0 in the TCC.
The Blissfield varsity men’s soccer team looked like a team possessed as they exacted some revenge defeating the Manchester Dutchmen 5-3 on Sept. 5. The Royals’ victory came after posting a 0-2 record against Manchester last season.
