Paced by freshman Tatyana Pless, who cracked the 20-minute mark for the first time, the Blissfield girls cross country team placed 21st in the MHSAA Division 3 Lower Peninsula State Finals at Michigan International Speedway this morning.

Pless finished 61st overall in a time of 19:56.3

She was followed in by senior Brittany Holdridge (143rd, 20:55.1), senior Lauren Yates (148th, 21:01.2), sophomore Meaghan Gunner (158th, 21:13.3) and freshman Brianna Yates (178th, 21:36.1). Also running for Blissfield were senior Autumn Owens (214th, 22:46.8) and Nina Lepaus (223rd, 23:02.3).

Gunner’s time was a personal best.

The future looks bright. And the future is now .

The dynamic duo of freshman Rachel Fisher and sophomore Ashley Daniels finished 1-2 at the final Tri-County Conference meet of the season, hosted by Whitmore Lake.  Fisher and Daniels led Whiteford to its first TCC championship since 2006.

Freshman Rachel Fisher ran into the Whiteford record books Saturday at the Chelsea Invitational held at Hudson Mills Metropark.

Fisher completed the course in 20:49 to take eighth in a field that featured several Division 1 schools. She broke Maureen Gibbs’ record of 21:15, which was set in 2006.

PITTSFORD – The Whiteford girls’ cross country team had another strong outing, taking second at the Pittsford Invitational Saturday.

The Bobcats finished second overall, thanks to a big contribution from the freshman class.

OREGON, Ohio – The Lady Royals runners earned the dip in the lake at Maumee State Park at the Cardinal Stritch cross country meet Saturday. Six members of the team put up season best times -- and coach Al Navarro’s girls needed every hard-earned second, because they beat Ostego by just a single point.

DEERFIELD – Dundee’s girls stole one from the Royals on their home course, last week. The Vikings edged the Royals at the annual running of the Blissfield Early Bird Invitational at Gerber Park Tuesday. Whiteford’s girls placed fifth and the BD girls placed 10th.

Dundee put four girls in the top eight and five in the top 15, including individual winner Brittany Slinker.

The Blissfield girls’ cross country team opened the season in fine form, winning the Tecumseh Preview at Tecumseh High School Saturday morning.

Senior Lauren Yates finished third in the junior-senior race, clocking in at 22 minutes flat. Senior Brittany Holdridge finished sixth, in 22:55.

Coach Al Navarro was especially impressed by the youngsters running in the freshman-sophomore race, where the Lady Royals finished 1-2-4.

Freshman Tatyana Pless finished first in the younger group, completing the 5K course in 22:30. Meaghan Gunner, a sophomore, finished second in 23:38. Freshman Brianna Yates was fourth in 23:55.
