According to forecaster from the National Weather Service the River Raisin may have reached its high point Friday morning, March 21, just inches below what would be considered a minor flood. According to the NWS website the river was at 682.45 feet above sea level at 7 a.m. Friday. Flooding occurs at 683 feet.
Water rose over the banks into Bachmayer Park late last weekend and some standing water is visible in Ellis Park as well in the middle of the village. Forecasters say the water levels will remain fairly constant through Monday before gradually decreasing throughout the week.
Lenawee Emergency Management Director Curtis Parsons said the slow thaw has been favorable. Reports of some flooding has been reported downstream closer to the City of Monroe where the river flows into Lake Erie.
