ADRIAN—Paul Somes, 86, of Adrian, formerly of Blissfield, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Lenawee Medical Care Facility.
Paul was born on October 30, 1929 in Riga Township to the late Eber and Lucille A. (Hall) Somes. Paul’s mother passed away when he was two and he was then raised by his aunt and uncle, Fred and Rena (Somes) Sayler.
Paul served in the US Army during the Korean War and worked at Tecumseh Products for almost 40 years. After his retirement from the Products, Paul managed the Raisin Valley Trailer Park for many years. He was a former member of the Eagles, #197, of Toledo, Ohio.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his step mother, Gladys ‘Tiny’ Somes; his brother, Andrew Somes; and his long time companion, Angela Cannon. Paul was also preceded in death by Fred and Rena Sayler; his cousins who he considered to be his siblings, Raymond, Lavern, Merl, Clyde and Viola Sayler Kempher.
Paul is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank Charlie Rebottaro and Alex Carson for being such good friend to Paul, Lester’s Diner for the many meals they took to his home and his caregiver, Marilyn Sayler.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service for Paul will be held at 11 am, Thursday, August 4, 2016, at Riga Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Betz officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Blissfield American Legion 325 and Blissfield VFW Post 10912.
