Charles L. “Chip” Kasten IV, age 33 of Blissfield, passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday, February 15, 2015.
Chip attended Manatee High School in Bradenton, Fla., and attended both Owens and Stautzenberger Community Colleges, Toledo, where he studied his passion of auto repair. He enjoyed fishing with his dad, working on cars, was an avid hunter and loved his Ohio State Buckeyes. He had currently built display and window cases for “Simply Stated & Painted,” a ceramics store in Toledo. Overall, his children were his absolute joy.

Robert P. Piotter, 89, of Blissfield, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015, at Blissfield Place.
Bob was born on Sept. 4, 1925, the son of Paul and Madeline (Vanest) Piotter.
Bob graduated from Blissfield High School in 1943, and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He was married on July 1, 1950 to Violet Goetz, who preceded him in death in 2013.
Bob worked for 37 years at Tecumseh Products, and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Riga.
He was a member and past commander of the Blissfield American Legion Post 325, and member and past Chef de Tran of the 40et8 in Adrian.
Bob also was a member of the Thursday night men’s bowling league in Blissfield for many years.

Thomas M. Yarger Sr., age 65, of Blissfield, passed away Friday, February 13, 2015, at Hospice House in Adrian. Thomas was born on May 22, 1949 in Lansing.
He worked for Ford Motor Company for approximately 24 years, beginning in 1991.
Thomas loved NASCAR and his favorite driver, Mark Martin. He also loved to travel to the Smoky Mountains, Nashville and the Bourbon Trail and also hiked Mt. LeConte. Thomas enjoyed bass fishing, bowling and golf and was a talented woodworker.

Margie Lee Shick, 95, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2015 in Kalamazoo. Margie Lee was born in Millboro Springs, Va., on February 28, 1919.
Margie Lee received her undergraduate degree from Mary Baldwin College, Staunton, VA and taught elementary school for three years. She received her Masters of Religious Education from Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond, Va. She was a Sunday School Extension worker for the Synod of Virginia, and later served as Director of Christian Education in Hazard, Ky. Margie Lee and Mel were married in Waynesboro, VA in 1949.

Joshua Louis Gates, age 31 of Blissfield, died Sunday, February 8, 2015.
He was born July 31, 1983, in Adrian to Terry and Debra (Kastel) Gates.
Joshua was self-employed doing painting and power washing. He was an active Cub Scout volunteer. Joshua coached for the Blissfield My Way Wrestling Club, Little League, softball and soccer club.
He was a member of Elem3nt Church and was a member of their Upward Basketball program.

DEERFIELD — Robert J. “Bob” Pieh, 66 of Deerfield died unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at his home.
Bob was born in Adrian, Michigan, on October 14, 1948, to Richard and Georgette (Vanhaerents) Pieh. He graduated from Deerfield High School with the class of 1966. After graduation he went to work for Ford Motor Company in Saline. Shortly after getting hired, he was drafted to serve his country with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He returned home from the war in 1969 and went back to work for Ford’s in Saline.
On October 8, 1971, Bob married Deanna S. Sager in Deerfield. She survives.
Bob was transferred to Ford’s in Milan where he retired in 2001 after 34 years of service.

Donald ‘Don’ (Freddie) Sattler, 86 formerly of Blissfield, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at Tecumseh Place II.
He was born in Metamora, Ohio, November 5, 1928 to Robert and Ruth (Irwin) Sattler. He married Marian Haas on November 10, 1946 in Blissfield. They enjoyed 64 years of marriage before she preceded him in death in 2010.
Don worked with the Crist Company, GoCon/Goodrich and later on with Lenawee Kreighoff doing masonry work and carpentry. Family was important to Don, especially his grandchildren. He and his wife, Marian spent many hours at Lenawee County Fair watching their grandchildren show their 4-H projects. John A. Bocskay died Friday, January 30, 2015, at his home with his family at his side, under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. He was 67 years of age.
John was born December 3, 1947, in Adrian to Alexander and Sina “Vernett” (Law) Bocskay. He graduated from Deerfield High School in 1966.
In 1974, he married Karla Burguard in Petersburg, Michigan.
John was an active member of the Deerfield Township Volunteer Fire Department, going on 42 years. John liked to hunt and fish and spent time at his cottage on Evans Lake. He retired in 2002 from Ford Motor Company in Saline after 36 years.

PALMYRA – Michael A. Betz, 48 of Palmyra, passed away Friday, January 23, 2015, at Flower Hospital.
He was born October 10, 1966, in Adrian, Michigan to Melvin and Diana ‘Dini’ (Richard) Betz. Michael graduated from Blissfield High School in 1984.
On April 6, 1991, Michael married Karen Hauser in Metamora, Ohio, and she survives.
Michael worked for Blissfield Manufacturing and was currently working for Chrysler in Perrysburg.
He was a member of an archery league at Blissfield Sportsmen’s Club and had a love of the outdoors and all things hunting. This passion was shared with his daughters, each of whom has taken a deer with their dad. Jerry was born on November 26, 1950 to Kenneth and Olive (Johns) Marks in Adrian. He graduated from Blissfield High School.
On April 20, 1974, Jerry was married to Deborah A. Goetz.
Jerry was a life-long farmer. He was also employed by Crop Production Services for 35 years, where he was a custom applicator.
Jerry was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Riga, and the American and Michigan Beefalo Associations. He served as a 4-H swine leader for many years.

Pat was born on Feb. 22, 1951 in Trenton, MI, the daughter of Leo Anthony and Marjorie Rose (Smock) Beaubien. She was married on Nov. 9, 1974 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rockwood, MI to Byron Clarence Sell.
Pat enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Besides helping on the family farm, Pat helped her husband Byron selling produce at the Blissfield and Madison farmer’s markets, the Walker’s Tavern Farmer’s Market in the Irish Hills, and the Detroit Eastern Farmer’s Market. Earle R. Miller, 95, formerly of Blissfield, passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at Lynwood Manor in Adrian.
Earle was born March 6, 1919, in Deerfield, the son of Edward and Myrtle (Myers) Miller. He graduated from Blissfield High school in 1937, and served in the US Army during WWII.
Earle retired as plant manager at Blissfield Manufacturing Co., and was a life member of the Blissfield American Legion Post #325 in Blissfield. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing.

Yvonne Bancroft passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 5, 2015, at Blissfield Place in Blissfield, Michigan.
Yvonne was born July 29, 1935, in Jackson, Michigan, the daughter of Sigmund and Margaret (Wagner) Wasielewski.
Yvonne graduated from St. John’s High School in 1954,
She attended Jackson Community College and graduated as a registered nurse from Borgess Hospital-Kalamazoo and Nazareth College, Division of Nursing in 1957.
She was employed at Bixby Hospital from 1957-1966 and was head nurse in Pediatrics 1960-1966.
She then worked in the medical offices of Dr. Eddy and Feeney until 1979. She then returned to Bixby Hospital continuing to work in Pediatrics until she retired in 1997.
Yvonne was very proud that she passed the National Certification Board Exam for Pediatrics.

He was born September 18, 1991, in Toledo to Lawrence Albert and Elizabeth Ann (Valdez) Marine. Michael graduated from Blissfield High School in 2011.
He was a member of Jesus is Lord Ministries.
Michael loved to skateboard, read, do art projects, was an avid video game player and a talented musician who enjoyed playing the guitar and drums. Michael loved to make people laugh.

Steven E. Sweet, 56, died suddenly in his home December 27, 2014, of a heart attack.
He was born on July 2, 1958, in Kalamazoo, to Edward and Janet Sweet.
Steve graduated from Blissfield High School in 1976 and Northern Michigan University in 1980.
He joined the Peace Corps serving two years in Ghana.
Steve was a manager for Marcos Pizza for over 20 years. An avid reader, he also loved theatre, opera, bicycling, baseball, and cats. Steve was a good friend of Bill W. for 24 years.
