Miss River Raisin Festival collects items for animals at Lenawee Humane Society

Charlotte Squires, Miss River Raisin Festival, is promoting a platform of  “Giving Back to – and through – Animals” during her year of service as Miss RRF.

During the Christmas season, she is collecting items for the homeless and unwanted pets at the Lenawee Humane Society. Her collection box is located at The Advance, 121 Newspaper Street, Blissfield. The deadline for her Christmas project is 5 p.m. Dec. 20.

Among the items needed are: all varieties dry food, canned food, cat litter, cat and dog toys, peanut butter for filling certain toys, rawhide chewing items, cow hooves, pig ears, pet shampoos, nail trimmers, neuter/spay sponsorships ($25, $35, $45), cotton balls and swabs, hand soap, paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, unopened syringes, heartworm pills, flea preventatives, dewormer, microscope slides and cover slips, ble.ach, liquid laundry soap, liquid dish soap, window cleaner, pine cleaner, brooms, dust pans, trash bags, sponges, scrub pads, rubber, latex or vinyl gloves, gift cards, towels, dish clothes, blankets, plastic totes with lids, box fans, duct tape, AA and 9V batteries, kennels, refundable bottles and cans. Checks will also be accepted and should be made payable to the Lenawee Humane Society.
