Sources: Koppelman wins top science teaching award

Word has been received that Blissfield elementary science teacher Gary Koppelman has won the prestigious Shell Science Teaching Award, a national honor. No official news release has been received from Shell or the awards committee, but various sources locally are confirming the news as of Tuesday afternoon, March 5.

In a combined effort by Shell Oil Company and the National Science Teachers Association, the award is given in recognition of a K-12 educator who has demonstrated an exceptional impact on their students, school and community in the field of science.

Britton Deerfield crowned its Winterfest queen, Andrea Frank, and king, Ben Huff Friday during a school pep rally.



Blissfield buses vandalized

It was fortunate Blissfield did not have school Friday after it was discovered that vandals had cut at least 22 tires on several school buses early Friday morning. If school had not been canceled, buses would not have been able to transport students. Two males dressed in dark clothing and dark hoodies were seen vandalizing the buses and cutting tires on security camera footage. Cords attached to the diesel engines were also unplugged.
