Village seeks bids to remodel new offices

Blissfield Village Council would like to see local contractors bid on the proposed remodeling of the new village office at the former Key Bank Building on South Lane Street. The council unanimously approved the architect’s plan and will move forward with the bidding process the will include a mandatory walk-through tentatively scheduled for Halloween. Any minor changes would have to be made to the plan by Wednesday as the architect plans to release bidding packages Friday in both electronic form and in paper form.

They will send the bid specs out to prospective contractors on the office that will also include a new council chamber and the village police department. Ideas for parks and rec in Blissfield? Input sought Thursday

The Blissfield Parks and Recreation Department will host a public meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Schultz-Holmes Memorial Library. Parks and recreation director Eric May said the meeting is being held to give the public an opportunity to contribute ideas of what they would like to see included in the department’s five-year plan.

“We’re looking for ideas on what the public would like to see us work on,” May said. The department’s current plan expires in February of 2014.


Denecker, Southward crowned BHS homecoming royalty

Blissfield High School students chose seniors Claire Denecker as 2013 homecoming queen and Charlie Southward as homecoming king Friday night at halftime of the varsity football game against Hillsdale
