Area track teams will not compete today as the area awoke to a blanket of snow. The Dundee meet, where Blissfield was to compete, has been postponed to May 1. The Britton Deerfield meet at Britton will be run on Thursday. At this time it is not known whether Whiteford will run at Britton Deerfield on Thursday as they already had a track meet scheduled that day at Lenawee Christian High School. Please check back this afternoon for updated information.
The Blissfield Community Girls Scouts is hosting an Easter Party for the community from 10:30 a.m.-noon Saturday at the Blissfield American Legion. There is no cost to attend and participate in the festivities.
Unlike the Easter Egg hunts of the past hosted by the Girl Scouts, this year’s event will be inside the Legion due to the possibility of bad weather and the already wet ground. They have planned some fun games and crafts along with prizes, organizer Michelle Molaro said.
Molaro said the event is geared to ages three to 10 it is a community event. Molaro said there are a lot of outdoor toys that will be given away as prizes. Local school district officials report they were pleased with results that came back on the Michigan Educational Assessment Program testing.
Blissfield superintendent Scott Moellenberndt said that the scores in the eighth grade mathematics and science categories by Blissfield students were one of the highlights of the MEAP testing. Moellenberndt said Blissfield improved in 13 of the 18 categories of the test from the third through the ninth grade.
Both Whiteford and Britton Deerfield cite continuity and improvement.
