SAGINAW – Doyle A. Sundquist age 96 of Saginaw, MI, formerly of Adrian, MI, passed away peacefully at the Saginaw VA Medical Center on Tuesday July 12, 2016. Doyle was born July 7, 1920 in Grand Rapids, MI to parents Anton J and Dorothy J (Pullen) Sundquist. Preceding him in death (2009) was his lovely wife Viva (Gottschalk) Sundquist, and sisters, Carmen Bourdette and Alice Betz.
He proudly served in the US Army Air Corps and was stationed in England during WWII. He retired from Johnson Controls in Adrian, MI in 1982. He was a long time member of the Community United Presbyterian Church of Palmyra, MI and was also an active member of Blissfield American Legion, as well as the Adrian VFW.
Survivors include his sons, Gary Sundquist and Kevin (Carma) Sundquist; stepson: Garth (Judi) Gottschalk; grandchildren: Erik Sundquist, Andrea (Larry) Donohue, Corey (Rebecca) Sundquist, and Karen (Bryan) Stone; great grandchildren: Dennes Donohue, Elizabeth Donohue, Joseph Donohue, Brenden Donohue, Ethan Sundquist, Sean Sundquist , Kaven Sundquist , and Braden Stone.
Doyle enjoyed feeding his birds and squirrels, Detroit Tigers Baseball, and most of all, spending time with his family.
Doyle’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the employees and especially the nurses at the Aleda E Lutz Veterans Hospital in Saginaw. Your care for our loved one was second to none and appreciated more than words can say.
A memorial service took place Friday, July 15, 2016, at Wagley Funeral Home in Adrian with the Rev. Douglas Holmes officiating and military honors conducted by the VFW Annis Fint Post #1584 and the American Legion Post #97.
