DEERFIELD — Deloris Jane Furgason, age 90, longtime resident of Deerfield, away on Friday, March 4, 2016, at Blissfield Place in the comforting atmosphere of her loving family, the staff and residents of Blissfield Place and Hospice of Lenawee.
Deloris was born on July 15, 1925, in Tecumseh, to Otto and Louise (Maerzke) Manthey.
On August 4, 1945, she was united in marriage to Glenn Furgason at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palmyra. He preceded her in death on June 5, 2003.
Deloris spent 28 years of her life working as a Nurse’s Aide for Herrick Hospital in Tecumseh, before retiring. During her retirement, she enjoyed crocheting and spending winters with her husband Glenn in Leesburg, Florida. Upon his death, she continued to winter in Leesburg up until last year.

Donald “Don” P. Potter, age 69, of Blissfield, died on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at his home.
He was born April 16, 1946, in Flint, Mich., to Paul and Geneva Dixon Potter.
Don served in the United States Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War. He worked for General Motors for 30 years as a robotics engineer.
He enjoyed building his extensive railroad layout of Lionel trains and frequenting the Blissfield Coney Island Restaurant to meet up with friends and enjoy conversation.
Don is survived by two daughters, Michelle Potter Stables of Davison, and Tonya Potter of Davison; two brothers, Norman (Dorene) Potter of Pensacola, Fla., Foster (Betty) Potter of Norton Shores; three grandchildren, Dylan Horton of Thomaston, Ga., Ashly Taylor of Burton, and Matthew Taylor of Boston, Mass. With the Madison women’s basketball win over Clinton in the district semi-final game at Sand Creek, they moved to the final round and broke and tied a school record along the way. Kendall Hudson’s 26 points was more than enough for her to break the single-season Trojan scoring record set in 1983 by Dawn Pigg. Hudson has 471 points so far this season, the former record was 453. She also tied Pigg’s career record at 1,077. Hudson gets her chance to own the record herself Friday evening when the Trojans play the Manchester Flying Dutchmen in the district final.
Frances E. Tietz, 88 of Blissfield, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Toledo Hospital.
Frances was born July 3, 1927, in Blissfield, to Henry and Idonea (Forsyth) Kruse.
On August 11, 1944, she married Calvin L. Tietz in Blissfield. He preceded her in death in 1995, having shared over 50 years together.
In her younger years, Fran enjoyed bowling on several leagues. She loved playing bingo and taking trips to the casinos, but treasured time at home with family playing cards, board games and putting puzzles together.
Survivors include her daughters, Kendra (Gary) Eason of California, Colleen Brown of Thailand, Tonya (Jeff) Maley of Kent, Ohio; four grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Frances was preceded in death by her siblings, Margaret Day, Douglas Kruse, Leslie Kruse, Basil Kruse and her granddaughter, Lee Ann Eason.

Alexander Andrew Campbell, age 67, of Blissfield, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at his home.
He was born June 26, 1948, in Glasgow, Scotland to Alexander and Mary (Henderson) Campbell. He was married to Finola Beattie on December 20, 1996, in Canada and she survives.
He served in the Royal Air Force as an Engineer in the early sixties. Alexander was a member of Light of Christ Parish (St. Peter the Apostle). He owned and operated International Brassworks in Blissfield. He was a huge supporter of the Celtic Football Club in Scotland and enjoyed expounding the merits of Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan.

Sally Sue (Blake) Moeller was born in Adrian, Michigan, June 6th, 1937 to Carey and Katherine (Conry) Blake. She grew up in Blissfield, Michigan. Her father was a telephone repairman and her mother a school teacher. She was baptized and received First Communion in the Catholic Church. She loved dogs, cats, and enjoyed horseback riding. She took piano lessons and played both the flute and piccolo in the high school marching band.
After high school she attended nursing school in Ann Arbor, Michigan graduating as a registered nurse. She moved to San Francisco, California where she met her husband, Lee. Ruth “Gerry” Geraldine McGaffigan, age 88 of Blissfield passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Lenawee Medical Care Facility, Adrian. Gerry was born on February 25, 1927 in Grayling, Michigan to William and Ruth (Lovely) Golnick. Gerry was a Cadet Nurse during WWII. In 1952, she married James McGaffigan and they shared 56 years of marriage until his death in 2008. Gerry and Jim were the type of people who were on their honeymoon for 56 years. Together, they loved and nurtured family and friends.
Gerry worked as a registered nurse for Bixby Hospital, retiring in 1988. She loved being a nurse so much that she maintained her nurses license for over six decades. She was a member of Light of Christ Catholic Parish, St. Peter the Apostle Church in Blissfield.

MANITOU BEACH—Steven “Steve” D. Cantrell, age 59, of Manitou Beach, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 13, 2016, at home surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He was born on November 13, 1956 in Adrian, MI, the son of Dwayne and Sue (Williams) Cantrell. He graduated from Adrian High School in 1974, and then the family moved to Blissfield and purchased Norton Equipment, he currently served as president.
On October 20, 2001, he married the love of his life, Linda Tagsold Cantrell and she survives.
Steve was a member and served on the board at Devil’s Lake Yacht Club. He enjoyed sailing, sand drag racing, boating and spending time enjoying the lake with his many friends and family.

BRITTON-Anna M. Dettman, age 104, of Britton, died Sunday, February 14,
2016, at the home of her grandson, David, and his family under the care of
Hospice of Lenawee. She was born October 8, 1911, in Palmyra to William
Henry and Marie (Schlatherer) Frye. On September 5, 1931, she married
Albert Dettman in Palmyra. He preceded her in death on January 11, 2001.
Anna enjoyed doing word search puzzles, knitting, crocheting, baking and
especially loved to wallpaper. She enjoyed a life of simple country
living and had a heart of gold. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran
Church in Blissfield.

BLISSFIELD – Mary “Sue” Ford, age 86 of Blissfield, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Blissfield Place.
She was born August 8, 1929, in Bruceton, Tennessee to Walter “Frank” and Nellie (Hill) Lee, and graduated from Nashville Central High School.
On December 27, 1947, she married Maurice “Maury” Ford and he preceded her in death in 2014, having shared 66 years together.
Sue worked for Blissfield Public Schools in the cafeteria, retiring with 22 years of service. She was a member of the Lenawee County School Retirement Association. Sue was a talented seamstress and a great cook, known to make the best gravy north of the Mason Dixon Line. When her children were younger, she was a leader for Cub Scouts, Blue Birds and Campfire Girls.
