Adrian—Edna L. Peacock, 85 of Blissfield, passed away at the Hospice of Lenawee Home on Tuesday, October 07, 2014 in the presence of her loving family and under the gentle care of Hospice.

Edna was born in Blissfield, MI on October 26, 1928 to Zearl and Carrie (Sipe) Horton. Edna attended Blissfield School and graduated with the class of 1946.

She married Even Lamley on October 29, 1946 in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, he preceded her in death. On March 3, 1984, she married Norman ‘Bud’ Peacock at the Blissfield First United Methodist Church.

Rick R. Pifer. A memorial will be held Saturday, September 20 at 10:30 a.m. at the Light of Christ Catholic Church in Blissfield. Rick, 54, is survived by his parents, Ed and Beverly Pifer; twin brothers Kent and Kevin Pifer; nephews Hans (Chelsea) Pifer, Eric (Allison) Pifer, niece Sara Pifer and grandniece Savannah Pifer. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A luncheon will be served at the Church after services. Burial will be at Ogden Cemetery.

Maurice ‘Maury’ F. Ford, 86 of Blissfield, passed away August 8, 2014, at his home under the loving care of his family and the gentle assistance of Hospice of Lenawee. He was born December 20, 1927, in Blissfield, Michigan to Franklin and Eunice (Kushmaul) Ford. Maurice proudly served his country in the Army and was stationed in Korea. On December 27, 1947, he married Mary ‘Sue’ Lee. They have been blessed with 66 years of marriage. He worked at Tecumseh Products for 43 years, retiring in 1990. Maurice was a member of the Blissfield American Legion, Blissfield VFW and the National Rifle Association. He was one of the founders of Blissfield Little League. John Lawrence Hans, age 57, of Blissfield, died Friday morning, August 1, 2014, at ProMedica Toledo Hospital following a very brief illness. John was born May 8, 1957, in Detroit, the son of David and Marie (Kitzinger) Hans. He married Margaret A. (Leszczynski) on May 18, 1984, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Farmington. John is the beloved and devoted husband of 30 years to Margaret; loving father of Bridget (Rick) Stein; cherished son of Marie and the late David (d. 1985); dear brother of Eric (Lynne) Hans, Gretchen (Ed) Guisbert and Heidi (Jeff) Lapham; and grandfather to a beautiful granddaughter due in December of 2014. DEERFIELD — Lucille A. Forche, age 86, passed away peacefully, on Monday, August 4, 2014, at the Hospice of Lenawee Home in Adrian. She was born on October 8, 1927 to Ross and Esther (Robison) Montry.  On June 25, 1949, she married Phillip W. Forche at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Deerfield.  He preceded her in death, just two short weeks ago. She enjoyed spending time in Zephyrhills, Florida, where she and her husband, Phil, spent their winters for 20 years. She was an avid bingo and card player. She loved to play games with her grandchildren, enjoyed children of all ages, working crossword puzzles, reading, and watching game shows on TV. Martha “Fern” Borchardt O’Brien, age 88, born in Granite City, Illinois on January 30, 1926, passed away August 4, 2014, after sudden illness. She lived in Brooklyn for over 40 years and spent many years in Blissfield with winters in Bradenton, Florida. She married Robert Borchardt April 6, 1946 who preceded her in death in 1976. They had three children who survive – a daughter: Karan (Mike) Raymond, Englewood, FL; two sons – Robert (Judy) Borchardt, Brooklyn, MI; and William (Beth) Borchardt, Blissfield, MI. On April 25, 1980, she married John “Bud” O’Brien who has also preceded her in death in 2008, and has a step daughter: Sherri (Thom) Leholm, Sandy, UT and a nephew: James (Sandy) Reed, Aloma, CA. Yvonne H. Nieman, 78 of Blissfield, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. She was born March 7, 1936 in Monroe to Harold and Mildred (Zilke) Koster.

She graduated from Dundee High School in 1954 and attended what is now Washtenaw Community College.

Yvonne married Kenneth Nieman in Sylvania, Ohio on June 29, 1956.

She started her career in health care as a nurses’ aide at Herrick Hospital. After becoming a licensed practical nurse, she worked for a number of years at Bixby Medical Center, the Dialysis Center, and Herrick Manor. She was a member of the Deerfield United Methodist Church. Yvonne loved the outdoors and enjoyed bicycling and camping with the Passport of America Club.  She also loved animals.

Gertrude ‘Gertie’ H. Wotring, 96 of Blissfield, passed away July 27, 2014 at Lenawee Medical Care Facility. She was born August 1, 1917, in Blissfield, to Grace (Bowman) and Pearl Knapp. Gertie graduated from Blissfield High School in 1935 and later married James Samuel Wotring in Angola, Ind. He preceded her in death in 1969.

Gertie’s love was her family and the farm. She loved raising her flower gardens and golf. Her great grandchildren were her life. Gertie had a special relationship with her step mother, Chloe Knapp, and took care of her until her death; Chloe lived to be over 100.

Survivors include her sister, Margaret Dusha from California; her grandchildren, James Brennan of Blissfield and Janelle (Todd) De Lano of Phoenix, Ariz.; great grandchildren, Zoe Brennan, Danielle, Taylor and Nathaniel De Lano. Besides her parents and husband, Jim, Gertie was … Read More »

PLANO, Texas – Tom Frayer, 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday June 27, 2014. A celebration of Tom’s life was held on Wednesday July 2, 2014 at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas.  Tom was born on April 23, 1946 in Adrian, Michigan, grew up on his family’s farm in Deerfield, and received both his Bachelors in Economics and Masters in Business Administration from the University of Michigan.

Tom and his family moved to Texas in 1978, and he was respected by friends and colleagues in the banking industry for many years. Tom was an avid runner and completed several marathons in Texas.

Rhea Lucille (Miller) Schaedler passed from this earth to be with God and her beloved Kenny on Wednesday morning July 23, 2014.

Rhea was born on June 2, 1916, the second child of Emmett and Myrtle (Kahle) Miller in Ai, Fulton County, Ohio. She graduated from Metamora High School in the class of 1934.

She married Kenneth Lewis Schaedler on the family farm in Ogden, Michigan on July 4, 1939. Ken and Rhea made their home in Blissfield, Michigan where together they raised nine children in their 68 years of marriage: Arnold Klump (Barbara), Donna (Klump) Billings (Frank), Dr. Dwight Klump (Carolyn), Delight (Klump) Romsek (Tom), Wayne Klump (Jackie), Carol Ann (Schaedler) Miller ( David), Douglas Schaedler (Elaine), Phillip Schaedler (Barbara) and the Hon. Laura Schaedler.
