Two of three landowners who had objections to allowing Rover Pipeline officials on their property will have to allow the surveys. A third case against landowners Dale and Dee Warner was dropped after a survey of land in Franklin Township was completed.
Both Dover Township Farmer Arnoud Schot and Franklin Township farmer Gregg Hardy objected to allowing the company come onto their property to survey the property .
Rover Pipeline is a proposed 42-inch natural gas transmission line project that would transport the commodity from the Marcellus shale region of Appalachia through Ohio to mid -Michigan.

For the first time in Blissfield’s 19-year history it has an official flag. Five members of the village council unanimously approved the new banner at the April 27 meeting. Trustees Art Weeber ad Mike Gunter were absent.
Using design elements chosen last year by Arnett Muldrow and Associates as part of the Blissfield Main Street image and branding exercise. The Main Street Program was the recipient of a branding services grant from the Michigan Main Street Center.
The flag, a dark blue, says “Blissfield” in scripted lettering in a yellow across it. It includes the newly adopted log that shows a sunburst with farm fields on it .

At 2:54 p.m. the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Lenawee County. A storm cell moving from the southeast was approaching Lenawee County. Local law enforcement officials estimated a strong storm cell would arrive in Blissfield about 3 p.m. The thunderstorm warning is in effect until 3:45 p.m. A tornado watch issued earlier is in effect until 8 p.m.
All Blissfield athletic practices and events scheduled for Monday were cancelled as a result of the weather warnings.
Palmyra Township voters turned out to reject a proposed road millage by a tally of 133 yes votes to 248 no votes.

Blissfield-area residents felt a few seconds of shaking just after noon Saturday when an earthquake measured at 4.2 on the Richter Scale with an epicenter reported near Portage and Galesburg, Michigan, rocked the mitten state for a few minutes.
No damage has been reported in the area, but dogs barked and houses shook.

Residents living in southeastern Lenawee County rely on a system of both public and private drains and tiles to keep the flatlands drained of surface water. It’s been more than 150 years since the first drains were cut through the Cottonwood and Black Swamps to make the area inhabitable as well one of the most fertile farm areas n the country. Because of that vast and intricate drainage system county officials are working with the proposed pipeline officials to protect the vital underground network.
Lenawee County officials are working on an agreement that could be put into place with Rover Pipeline that would protect county drains. A potential agreement with the NEXUS Pipeline could become a work in progress before long too.

The Federal Drug Enforcement Agency has issued a public safety warning in Monroe County after three people in Monroe County died in three separate locations April 14. All three were heroin-related deaths, according to Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone. One person in Frenchtown Township and two people in Bedford Township, who were not found together, but in the same vicinity, are reported to have died. According to a press release from the Monroe County Sheriff, all three subjects had injected themselves with heroin and immediately died after doing so. The bodies of all three were sent to the Wayne County Medical Examiners Office for autopsies.
According to Malone, the DEA’s warning is due to identifying a large increase of Fentanyl-laced heroin in the area.

Efforts to reroute the proposed NEXUS natural gas pipeline has gained some momentum in Ohio and activists are seeing some results of their work.
CORN or the Coalition to Reroute Nexus has been suggesting alternatives throughout the Ohio portion of the proposed 250 mile, 42-inch project that may also come through Michigan in Lenawee County, then through Washtenaw County before hooking into existing the DTE Energy natural gas transmission system.
While CORN has garnered support by way of resolutions from several Ohio counties, townships and villages including Lucas County and Amboy Township just across the border from Ogden Township, they have yet to make a presence in Michigan.

A 15-year-old Palmyra girl, reported missing by her mother Saturday morning, has been found in Georgia. Makayla Rose McLaughlin was reported missing shortly after noon on Saturday and was last seen about 9:30 a.m. that day at home.
According to the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Department, they had identified a possible person of interest in the case who was possibly driving a silver Ford Focus.
Authorities say the girl was located in Georgia and a person of interest in the case was located in Georgia.
The girl is in the custody of law enforcement. The Michigan State Police and Georgia authorities assisted with the investigation that is still ongoing.

The Blissfield Township Board is one short after trustee Kris Ruhl submitted his letter of resignation Monday, March 23. Ruhl, who was elected to his first term in 2012, sent the letter to township Supervisor Al Navarro Monday. Ruhl cited several personal and professional changes in his life as the drive behind the decision.
Ruhl said he was thankful and proud of the efforts of the board during his tenure.
“While on the board, I feel that great (strides) forward were made and I am very thankful and honored for the opportunity to serve the Blissfield community,” the letter said.
