Yuletide Brings People to Blissfield

The mood was decidedly merry in Blissfield today as residents and visitors enjoyed day two of the Yuletide Festival.

Downtown merchants reported big crowds and brisk sales in the stores.

“It’s the busiest I’ve seen it in here all year,” said Tom Davis, owner of the Blissfield General Store.

There were lines to visit Santa at the historic depot and Visitors Center. Outside the Depot, children gathered around the pens to feed and pet the reindeer.

Many people took advantage of the $1 train rides and even more visited the open house at the Blissfield Model Railroad Club.

The early morning fog caused a quiet start the annual craft show at Blissfield Elementary School. But attendance picked up and was strong throughout the day.

Blissfield’s Yuletide “Season of Bliss” weekend continues Sunday with several events, including:

  • Shopping from noon to 5 p.m.
  • Blissfield Model Railroad Club Open House from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Woodturning demonstration from 1 to 3 p.m. at Southward Custom Wood Products.
  • Holiday Art Exhibits at Flatlanders Art Galleries from 1 to 3 p.m.
  • Santa at the Depot from 2 to 4 p.m.
