ADRIAN — Wilma E. Loar, 80, of Blissfield, passed away Friday, December 9, 2011, at Bixby Medical Center.
She was born September 19, 1931, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Tillman and LaVerta (Bigley) Corum. Wilma graduated from Waite High School in Toledo with the Class of 1949.
On May 30, 1958, Rev. Otto Hood united Wilma and Allan Loar in marriage at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Blissfield. Allan, her husband of over 53 years, survives.
Wilma worked with Allan at the family business, Loar Appliance, for many years. She was also a Shaklee Distributor for 10 years. She was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Blissfield where she was active in the children’s ministries. Wilma served as a leader and volunteer at The Triangle with local teens.
In addition to her husband, Wilma is survived by their children, Gordon (Dianna) Loar of Blissfield and Cathy (Michael) Palmer of Adrian; two grandchildren, David Loar and Jenna Palmer; a brother, Tillman (Nancy) Corum, of Leesburg, FL; and a sister, Virginia (Robert) Brown of Port Ludlow, WA.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
