PITTSFORD – The Whiteford girls’ cross country team had another strong outing, taking second at the Pittsford Invitational Saturday.
The Bobcats finished second overall, thanks to a big contribution from the freshman class.
Sophomore Ashley Daniels was third overall, finishing in 21:52. Right behind her was freshman Rachel Fisher (4th, 22:09). Freshmen Grace Hojnacki (12th, 23:45), Devon Wilkerson (16th, 24:42), Clairesse Rickert (27th, 26:12) and Paige Long (33rd, 27:52) helped Whiteford place first in the freshman race.
Also running were sophomore Brandi Eischen (13th, 24:36) and senior Taylor Kiefer (14th, 23:36). All together, the Bobcats placed second behind first place Leslie, one of the top teams in the state.
Britton Deerfied was also at the race. Althoughter, the six person team dropped nine minutes of their previous times.
Paige Goll led the BD girls, finishing 17th in 24:14. Also running were Cady Smith, Sarah Griffin, Alysha Pirolli and Kaylee Trone.
In the boy’s race, BD’s Josh Hitt placed 26th.
The Bobcats boys had only three runners. Elliot Wollom was 29th (20:50), David Schmidt ran a personal best 25:09 and Luke Cline finished in 23:10.
