The vote was closer but the result was the same, as Blissfield Community Schools district voters rejected the scaled-back bond proposal, 765-564.
The 15-year, $12 million bond proposal was reduced in scope by $3 million. State law prevented the school board from changing the ballot language to reflect the reduction, so the board passed a resolution declaring it would reduce the sinking fund millage by 1 mill if the voters passed the bond issue.
Meanwhile, newcomer Scott Abbott was the top vote getter in the school board race for two seats. He received 898 votes. Also elected was Noel Eisenmann, who received 838 votes. Incumbent Larry Bausman finished third with 629 votes.
Thanks for absolutely nothing, Blissfield. I hope that precious money you save on your taxes is used as a donation to a sign to put in front of the school, "We Don't Believe In Change, We Believe In Cheap".
