Theodore C. Jensen, 79, of Blissfield went to be with the Lord September 4, 2011.
Ted was born on August 29, 1932 in Toledo, Ohio to Joseph and Stella (Fleck) Jensen. He graduated Central Catholic High School in the class of 1951. Ted married Janet Schuller on September 12, 1953 in Toledo, Ohio.
Ted started in the grocery business when he was 16 working at Kroger. He then worked at National Food Stores in both Toledo and Battle Creek. He managed In & Out Mart from ‘74 to ‘95, retiring in ‘95. He also owned with his family the A & W in Blissfield. He was a member of Light of Christ Catholic Church - St. Peter’s where he sang in the choir. He was also active in Knights of Columbus leading the Tootsie Roll drive for many years. He was an avid golfer and one of the best ping pong players around. He loved collecting model trains and spent many years camping with family and friends. Ted enjoyed riding his bike and had a special love for music. Ted held his faith and love for his family above all.
Ted is survived by his wife, Janet, of 57 years; his children, Ted (Rochelle) Jensen of Blissfield, Margie (Tim) Presutti of Blissfield, Tom (Tami Ormiston) Jensen of Toledo, Terry (Peggy Bentley) Jensen of Blissfield, Tim (Polly) Jensen of Riga, Todd (Dee) Jensen of Blissfield, and Brenda Jensen of Blissfield who has been a huge support to the family. He is survived by his grandchildren, Christy (Jason) Holliday, Mandy (Keith) Goldfuss, Jake Jensen, Niki (Peter) Daining, Pastor Dan (Kayla) Crist, Andrew Jensen, Amy Jensen, Janelle Czubek, Brad Jensen, Pat Jensen, Natalie (Travis Iffland) Jensen, Zac Jensen, Mike Jensen and Nic Jensen, 10 great-grandchildren: Max, Macy, David, Lida, Kadan, Jaxan, Lexie, Jayla, Colten, and Nash, with at least one more on the way. He is also survived by his sister Ann (Chuck) Johnson of Oregon, Ohio; his brother-in-law, Jack McLuckie; and sisters-in-law, Katie Jensen, Shirley Jensen, Jean Jensen and Helen Rudnicki.
Ted is preceded in death by his parents, his grandson Matthew Crist, and his siblings, Joe, Art, Jerry, Norb, Romey, Eddie, and Gene Jensen, Marcella Lorent, Lauretta Scharer, Margaret Mary Jensen, and Mary Lou McLuckie.
Mass of a Christian Burial for Ted will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Light of Christ Catholic Church - St. Peter’s in Blissfield with Father Jack Laughran officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, from 2-8 p.m. at Wagley Funeral Home, Tagsold Chapel where a prayer service will take place at 7 p.m. Contributions in Ted’s memory may be directed to Daybreak Adult Day Services. Ted suffered with Alzheimer’s for almost 4 years and truly enjoyed the time he spent at Daybreak.
