Ruth S. Palmer, 98, of Blissfield, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at Blissfield Place where she received loving care for the past five years.
She was born August 13, 1913, in Blissfield, the daughter of the late William and Wilhelmina (Schmidt) Wahl.
On March 1, 1938, she was married to Elwood J. Palmer in Napoleon, Ohio. Ruth and Elwood celebrated 28 years of marriage prior to his death in 1966.
Ruth was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was active in the sewing circle. She was also a member of the Mother’s Club and a group of ladies in the Britton area known as the Prairie Eight. Ruth crocheted many beautiful afghans she gave to family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo.
Ruth is survived by her son, Richard and his wife, Margaret, of San Diego, California; a granddaughter, Daleanne Moore, and her husband, Kevin; her great granddaughter, Eryn Moore, all of California; a sister, Beulah Fisher, of Blissfield; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Leo Wahl.
The service celebrating the life of Ruth was held on Saturday, November 5, 2011, at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Gary Leking officiating. Contributions are encouraged to be made to Hospice of Lenawee.
