Royals Run to Victory at Cardinal Stritch

Blissfield Wins With Depth

OREGON, Ohio – The Lady Royals runners earned the dip in the lake at Maumee State Park at the Cardinal Stritch cross country meet Saturday. Six members of the team put up season best times -- and coach Al Navarro’s girls needed every hard-earned second, because they beat Ostego by just a single point.

Ostego’s best two girls finished 1-2 in the race. The Royals won with depth, putting six girls In the top 46. The fastest Royal in the race was freshman Tatyana Pless, who motored across the finish line in 21:05 to take 12th overall. Lauren Yates, who ran earlier in the week with a sore hip, shaved 1:23 seconds off Tuesday’s time to finish 17th in 21:23. Brittany Holdridge (32nd, 21:57), Meaghan Gunner (33rd, 21:58), Brianna Yates (41st, 22:32) and Autumn Owens (46th, 23:07) all set season-bests.

It was Blissfield’s fourth first-place finish of the season.

Junior David Dheel led the Blissfield boy’s, placing 44th in 18:55. Also running were Evan Schnabele, Eric Paulding and Brandon Curtis.
