Blissfield cross country coach Al Navarro has a young team of girls to work with this fall, and the boys are three runners shy of the minimum number required to compete as a team. However, he has recruited some talented athletes, and he has high hopes for his girls team.

“Everything’s depending on how the young kids can develop,” said Navarro.
A balanced approach to running has long been the key to Blissfield’s success. Up until 2007, the team had won the LCAA championship 12 consecutive times. Since then, Blissfield has placed second. The Royals have been ranked in the 20s statewide for the last three years.
Although the boys cannot compete as a team, Navarro expects some great individual performances from the dedicated runners, Josh Riley and David Dheel, who narrowly missed qualifying for the state meet last season.
