ADRIAN – Janet R. Fisher, 73, of Adrian, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at her home under the loving care of her family.
Janet was born January 20, 1938, in Ottawa Lake, Michigan, the oldest child of Earl and Agnes Knoblauch. She was a graduate of Blissfield High School.
On June 14, 1958, Janet married Duane Fisher in Riga. Duane, her husband of 53 years, survives. Janet worked on the family farm with Duane where she did the bookkeeping, prepared wonderful meals, and even drove tractor.
Janet was well known within the banking community in Lenawee County. She started as a teller at Blissfield State Bank and retired as Vice President of Commercial Lending at Onsted Community Bank. She also worked at Jipson-Carter State Bank and Adrian State Bank.
She belonged to the Red Hat Society. An avid reader, Janet often selected articles to send family and friends. She also enjoyed shopping, yard sales, sewing, and watching John Wayne movies. Most precious to Janet was her family, she especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Janet is survived by her mother, Agnes Knoblauch of Blissfield; a daughter, Colleen (Gary) Adams of Tecumseh; a son, Kevin (Linda) Fisher of Adrian; four grandchildren, Lori (Jason) Holcomb, Raymond Fisher, Shaina Fisher, and Joshua Adams; a great granddaughter, Madison Holcomb; two brothers, Eugene (Pat) Knoblauch of Ottawa Lake, and Robert (Carol) Knoblauch of Riga; two sisters, Elona (Russell) Myers of Ottawa Lake, and Bonnie (Harold) Andrews of Dalhart, TX; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her father, she was preceded in death by two nephews, Eric Andrews and Doug Myers.
The funeral service for Janet was held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at Wagley Funeral Home, Tagsold Chapel in Blissfield. Contributions in memory of Janet may be made to Hospice of Lenawee. You may also send condolences at
