James Grinage
James Crane Grinage, age 86, of Blissfield, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at Herrick Hospital under the loving care of Hospice of Lenawee.
He was born February 15, 1925, in Toledo, Ohio, to Burhl and Iva (Crane) Grinage. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II.
Jim married Joyce Fischer on June 11, 1949, at the First United Methodist Church in Blissfield.
He worked for the U.S. government as a mail carrier retiring in 1982. James was a member of the Blissfield American Legion for over 50 years and also a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Blissfield.
In his spare time, James enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, reading and watching his beloved Detroit Tigers and Michigan Wolverines sporting events. He was a gentleman who never complained a day in his life.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his 4 children, Janet Flores, Joann Kerekgyarto, Jayne (John) Gorski, all of Blissfield, Judee (Michael) Williams of Buchanan, Mich., and a foster daughter, Janis Kane of Clinton; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-granddaughters; his siblings, Greta (Gerald) Reinhardt of Blissfield and Lauren Grinage of Horton. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Julie, and his brother, Haldon Grinage.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of James Grinage was held on Monday, November 28, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Blissfield with Pastor Paul Donelson officiating. Visitation took place prior to the service at the church on Monday from 10:00 until the time of service. James was laid to rest on Monday, November 28, 2011, at Pleasant View Cemetery in Blissfield with a graveside service being held at 1:30 p.m. with military honors being conducted by the Blissfield American Legion.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church or to Hospice of Lenawee. Envelopes will be available at the church. You may sign the register book or leave online condolences to the family at www.wagleyfuneralhome.com
