Hazel D. Holubik, 92, of Blissfield, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at her home.
Born December 8, 1919, in Adrian, she was the daughter of Nelson and Helen (Kastel) Swift. Hazel received a Bachelor’s Degree from County Normal, which is now Eastern Michigan University. She continued her education at Siena Heights University earning a Master’s Degree.
Hazel was married to Frank Holubik, Jr., and he preceded her in death in 1993.
Hazel began her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse at the age of 17. She taught in Palmyra for 20 years, and retired from Blissfield Community Schools having taught for over 44 years. In retirement, Hazel tutored students. She enjoyed spending summers at her cottage on Round Lake.
She is survived by two sons, Keith (Shirley) Keller and Hal (Sally) Holubik, both of Blissfield; five grandchildren: Keith (Tiffany) Keller; Kris (Heidi) Keller; Kurt (Chanell) Keller; David, and Dustin Holubik; and three great grandchildren, Erika, Ethan, and Margaret Anne.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ila May Keller.
