Blissfield 29, Jonesville 6
The Royals (6-3) qualified for the playoffs for the fourth straight season with a 29-6 win at Jonesville.
Dalton Goetz rushed for two touchdowns and Eric Schmidt and Lee Keinath also rushed for touchdowns for the Royals.
Goetz’s first score came from five yards out just over three minutes into the game. He scored another from two yards out later in the first quarter as Blissfield held a 16-0 lead.
Goetz had a 75-yard TD called back because of off-setting personal foul penalties in the second quarter. The penalties kept Goetz from reaching 1,000 yards in the regular season. But he can reach the mark in next week’s playoff game. He finished with 97 yards on 20 carries.
Schmidt spent most of the game on the sidelines nursing a sore groin. He did come in for a series late in the first half. The Royals tried to score through the air with a short field. On fourth down, Schmidt rushed in from eight yards, giving the Royals a 22-0 lead with two seconds left on the clock.
Lee Keinath scored for the Royals with 1:49 left on the clock. Keinath rushed 11 times for 60 yards. Jonesville broke the Royals’ shutout with 9 seconds left in the game.
The MHSAA will release playoff pairings on FSN at 7 p.m. Sunday.
