Blissfield and BD pickup wins, Clinton beats Whiteford

Blissfield 22, Ida 19

The Royals came from behind twice in the final minutes of the game to improve to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the LCAA. Blissfield was down 13-6 at halftime. The game stayed that way until QB Eric Schmidt rushed for a touchdown with 3:22 to play. Schmidt gave the Royals a one-point lead with a keeper on the two point play. But two plays later, Ida was celebrating in Blissfield’s endzone. The kick failed, but Ida led 19-14 with 2:50 to play. Schmidt guided the Royals’ attack through the air, completing several passes, including a 15-yard strike to Jordan Bateson with 29.5 seconds left to play in the game. Schmidt scored a keeper on the two-point play to take a 22-19 lead. Ida fell to 3-2 overall and 1-2 in the LCAA.

Clinton 38, Whiteford 19

The Bobcats converted two fourth down plays and scored on their first possession, but Clinton dominated the rest of the first half, handing Whiteford its second loss of the season. Whiteford (3-2, 2-1 TCC) struck first, when Gabe LaRoy through a 4th-and-2 34-yard TD pass to big Forrest Grosteffon. The Redskins (2-3, 2-1 TCC) were had some fortune on their side during a 65-yard scoring drive and tied the score 6-6. Whiteford opened the second quarter with a first down at the Clinton 29, but three penalties stalled the drive. Clinton took over at its own 33 and on the first play, Haydon Craig faked a hand-off and then raced 63-yards for a touchdown. Clinton held a 28-6 halftime lead and then scored on its first possession of the second half. The Bobcats kept fighting. Grant Track recovered a fumble and rumbled 40 yards for a TD and Cody Donnelly ran for a 14-yard score for the Bobcats. Whiteford visits BD Friday at Deerfield, which is playing its homecoming game.

Britton Deerfield 44, Whitmore Lake 12

Coach DJ Lutz won his ever Tri-County Conference game as the Patriots beat up on host Whitmore Lake. Britton-Deerfield is 3-2 overall and 1-2 in the TCC.
