Dundee defeats Blissfield at Gerber Park

DEERFIELD – Dundee’s girls stole one from the Royals on their home course, last week. The Vikings edged the Royals at the annual running of the Blissfield Early Bird Invitational at Gerber Park Tuesday. Whiteford’s girls placed fifth and the BD girls placed 10th.

Dundee put four girls in the top eight and five in the top 15, including individual winner Brittany Slinker.

The Royals top finisher was freshman Tatyana Pless (4th, 21:39). They placed four girls in the top 13 and five in the top 20. Also scoring points for Blissfield were Brittany Holdridge (9th, 22:23), Meaghan Gunner (12th, 22:42), Lauren Yates (13th, 22:46) and Brianna Yates (20th, 24:02).

Despite missing two of their top five runners, Whiteford had its strongest performance at Gerber Park in a couple years. They were led by freshman Rachel Fisher, who finished third overall in 21:32. Ashley Daniels scored a top 10 finish, finish in 22:25. Also running were Grace Hojnacki (36th, 25:13), Brandi Eischen and Paige Long.

The fastest BD girl was Paige Goll (25th, 24:30). Also running were Cady Smith, Sarah Griffin, Alysha Pirolli and Kaylee Trone.

The Adrian Maples won the boys’ race. Blissfield, BD and Whiteford didn’t run enough boys to score in the team results. David Dheel finished 22nd in 19:39. Evan Schnabele, Eric Paulding and Brandon Curtis also ran.

Elliot Wollom finished 46th in 21:09 to lead the Whiteford boys. Also running were Josh Overmann, David Schmidt and Luke Cline.

BD’s Josh Hitt was 80th (23:58).
