Blissfield—Don D. Ebright, 78 of Blissfield passed away suddenly on Monday, August 15, 2011 at Flower Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio. He was the third son born to Ernest and Myrtle Belle (Robertson) Ebright on November 20, 1932.
Don graduated from Blissfield High School and during his senior year served as the Co-Captain of the Sugarboys football team. He went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean War conflict. In October of 1956, Don was united in marriage to Grace Borton in Toledo, Ohio. She survives.
Don went to work for Revco in Deerfield for 17 years before leaving to join the General Motor’s Hydromatic Plant in Toledo, Ohio where he later retired in 2005 at the age of 72. He attended Blessed Savior Lutheran Church of Blissfield and was a member of the Blissfield American Legion Post #325 in Blissfield. Don’s favorite pastimes included hunting in earlier years and especially fishing up north at Houghton Lake every year and he loved to attend various Blissfield sporting events of all kinds.
Surviving is his wife, Grace Ebright of Blissfield; 4 children, Robert (Diane) Ebright, Susan (John) Ostrander, Brian Ebright and James Ebright all of Blissfield; 1 sister, Rosalie (Roy) Marks of Blissfield and a brother, Les Ebright of Adrian; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Gene and Duke Ebright.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Don Ebright was held on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Adrian at 11:00 AM with Pastor Daryl Etheridge officiating. Visitation took place on Friday, August 19, 2011 at the Wagley Funeral Home, Tagsold Chapel in Blissfield from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blessed Savior Lutheran Church, the Disabled American Veterans or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
