Council Schedules Second Meeting to Discuss Property Purchase

After taking two cracks at the issue in executive session, Blissfield Village Council has scheduled a second special meeting to discuss the purchase or lease of an unidentified property.

Council will take up the issue again at a special meeting to be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Schultz-Holmes Memorial Library.
To date, members of council have refused to identify the property being discussed.
Today’s meeting was held at 7 p.m. Immediately after opening the meeting, council went into executive session to discuss the sale or lease of property. After 65 minutes of discussion, council re-opened the meeting. Trustee Ray Jones motioned to proceed with his recommendation to council regarding the purchase and lease of real property.
The motion failed in a 3-3 vote. President Jae Guetschow and trustees Jones and Art Weeber voted for the motion. Trustees Mike Gunter, Mark Burgermeister and Al Navarro voted against the motion.
A motion to adjourn was taken. Trustees Gunter, Navarro, Weeber and Jones voted against the motion.
Trustee Gunter then voted to return to executive session to discuss the sale and lease of property. The motion passed by a 6-0 vote.
Council came out of the second executive session after about 15 minutes. Trustee Jones voted to hold a second special meeting Thursday. The motion was passed.
            Trustee George Brown was absent.
