Blissfield Girls Second at Tecumseh

First Event of the Season

TECUMSEH – Blissfield’s girls exploded out of the blocks to start the 2010 track and field season. The Royals placed second behind the hosts in Wednesday’s Tecumseh Relays. The boys’ team, who graduated more than a dozen seniors since last year and had a couple injuries, finished well behind the leaders.

The girls had strong outings all over the track and field. All State pole vaulter Jenna Goetz matched her state medal winning jump of 9’6 and Lauren Yates smashed her personal best by clearing 8’0 as Blissfield won the event. Paced by a couple newcomers, Blissfield’s girls won the shuttle hurle relay. The improvements in hurdles could be a major factor for Blissfield this season. Jenna and Laura Goetz had strong days sprinting. The distance runners also had a solid out and Blissfield performed well in the throwing events.
