Beatrice V. “Jean” Vosburgh, 97, formerly of Battle Creek died at
Sunset Village Retirement Community in Sylvania, Ohio on Wednesday,
June 8, 2011.
Jean was born July 13, 1913, in Beloit, Wisconsin to Charles H. and
Beatrice L. (Lantz) Unger, Jr. She grew up in Battle Creek, attended
Battle Creek Public Schools and lived most of her life in Battle
Creek, moving to Blissfield, MI in 2001. Jean spent most of her life
caring for her family. She was employed as a medical assistant for
Dr. Robert Fraser 10 years and was also employed at Spring Hill
Nursing Home.
Jean married Frank D. Vosburgh in Angola, Indiana on January 10,
1934. She was preceded in death by Frank, her husband of 67 years on
December 30, 2001.
Surviving are her daughter, Patricia (Jerry) Roessler of Blissfield,
MI; two granddaughters, Crystal Jordan of Toledo, OH and Kimberly
Eppert of Cincinnati, OH; five great-grandchildren: Shane Jordan,
Alisa Jordan, Levi Kuebler, Emily Eppert, and Samuel Eppert. She was
also preceded in death by her parents; and an infant brother and
sister, Jim and Ailene.
Jean was a former member of the Sweet Adelines. She enjoyed flower
gardening, reading and was an excellent cook.
Jean’s family received friends 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the
Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, where funeral services were held
10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011. Interment followed at Memorial
Park Cemetery.
