Anthony “Tony” Genchi

DEERFIELD — Anthony “Tony” J. Genchi, age 90 of Deerfield, formerly of the Cleveland, Ohio, area passed away on Wednesday evening, Sept. 18, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 3, 1923, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Joseph and Antoinette (Fratelloni) Genchi. On Oct. 29, 1960, he was united in marriage to Mary Hrestak in Cleveland, Ohio. She survives. Tony was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who loved spending time with his family. He was a welcoming host and enjoyed time sitting with friends sharing stories over coffee and a piece of pastry. Tony was a WWII Army veteran who proudly displayed “death before dishonor” as a symbol of his patriotism. In addition to his wife, Mary, Tony is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Jim) Mello of Dundee; two sons, Mark Genchi and Chip (Val) Genchi both of Garfield Heights, OH; five grandchildren, Dominic Genchi, Abigail Mello, Joseph Genchi, Ross Genchi, and Sarah Mello; great grandson, Dylan Genchi and several nieces and nephews. Tony was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters and one brother A Memorial Mass for Tony will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at Light of Christ Catholic Parish, Deerfield (St. Alphonsus) with Fr. Jack Loughran presiding. Visitation will be from on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Condolences to the family may be made at www.andersonfuneralservices.com .
