Violet Piotter

Violet L. Piotter, 84, of Blissfield, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013, at Blissfield Place.

She was born November 12, 1928, in Riga, Michigan, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Knoblauch) Goetz.  Violet graduated from Blissfield High School, and attended Davis Business College.

On July 1, 1950, she married Robert Piotter in Riga.

Violet is a life-long member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Riga.  For many years she worked at Iott Insurance.  Violet and Robert traveled extensively, visiting all 50 states and and also enjoying trips abroad.

In addition to Robert, her husband of almost 63 years, Violet is survived by their children: Doug (Irene) Piotter of Katy, TX; Steve (Marcia) Piotter of The Woodlands, TX; and Patricia (Jeff Gyde) Marks of Oak Harbor, OH; grandchildren: Carey, Sonja, Heather, Adam, Mark, and Brice; and great grandchildren: Brooke and Liam.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Carlyn and Wilma; and brothers, Lynwood, Harold, Wilbur and Harlan.

Memorial services for Violet will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Riga with Rev. James Seelow officiating.  Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2013, at Wagley Funeral Home, Tagsold Chapel in Blissfield.
