TCC Jamboree - BD and Whiteford
In her first race for the Britton Deerfield Patriot Cross Country team, sophomore Larissa Buckingham claimed victory as the first runner across the finish line at the first TCC jamboree of the season in Clinton on Sept. 13. The Patriots girls team finished fourth on the day while the Whiteford Bobcat girls team claimed a second-place finish.
Whiteford scored 60 points and BD had 96 points. Clinton won the jamboree with 51 points followed by Whiteford and third place Madison with 94 points followed by Britton Deerfield.
Huron Invitational - Whiteford
Whiteford ran Saturday in the Huron Invitational. The girls placed seventh of 13 teams with 152 points. Leading the way for the girls was Rachel Fisher 13th place in 21:37. She was followed by Ashley Daniels 17th place in 22:14, Grace Hojnacki 27th 22:45, Brandi Eischen 47th 25:27, and Clairesse Rickert 48th 25:28. All five girls ran season bests this day. Also running Saturday and running season’s bests were Devon Wilkerson 25:50, Kaley Floriana 29:01, Hannah Curtis 29:10, and Natalya Groff 30:01.
The boys’ team had their best showing of the season finishing 11th of 13 teams. All five boys ran season-best times, as they were led by Garrett Crozier 47th in 20:08.
The Blissfield cross country team competed in two meets last week.
LCAA Jamboree - Blissfield
At Tuesday’s LCAA Jamboree, the Blissfield girls took fourth overall.
Zubke led the Royals with a time of 22 minutes, 33 seconds to place fourth. Yates clocked in at 23:09, followed by Gunner at 23:10.
For the boys, David Dheel placed ninth with a time of 18:52.
Fayette Invitational - Blissfield
At Saturday morning’s Fayette Invitational, the team again took fourth, though the Royals posted some impressive times.
Zubke finished 18th with a time of 22:07, and Yates and Gunner were right behind her. Jessica Riley set a new personal record with a time of 23:15, and Madison Spano rounded out the top five with a personal best.
