Two hundred tickets were distributed and 200 people were allowed in the Riga Township Hall for a meeting considering the proposed wind ordinance Thursday night, but a long line remained outside of people who couldn't get in as the crowd had exceeded the building's capacity. With TV cameras from two stations and other media present, the meeting was postponed in an effort to find a larger venue to accommodate all those wanting to hear the discussion and any action that might take place.

Opponents of Riga Township proposed Wind Farm jammed the special meeting held at the Riga Township Hall last night (June 30). Opponents from outside the township occupied limited seating while Riga Residents were forced to stand outside. Shrill non residents whipping up the crowd helped cause the meeting to be canceled while none of them offered to relinquish their seats for Riga residents who were standing outside. Cancellation of the meeting will cost Riga residents still more with the rental of a larger site for all the non residents to attend and the cost of the township lawyer who has racked up a bill of more that $30,000 of what was thought to be, in the beginning, less than $10,000 to navigate through the wind farm morass. Costs are mounting from opponents whipping up the locals to force costly possible legal battles from exclusionary zoning by the wind farm contractors. Future recall costs will average $3000 a pop for each election, recall, or referendum vote. Will Riga residents support future millage requests to pay for all of this?
