A heavy rain shower moving through Britton Friday afternoon about the time the BD Invitational almost ended the track meet before it started. But when the rain stopped the sun came out and created almost perfect conditions for a track meet.
BD hosted its annual Friday afternoon relay inviting, Clinton, Whiteford, Blissfield, Summerfield and Lenawee Christian schools to participate. No overall team score was kept but individuals medals were given out for the top five finishers and the first three relay teams over the finish line also medalled in each event.
Boys events: Kris Iott won the pole vault clearing the opening height at 8 feet. This was the first time the competition in the pole vault took place at the Britton-Deerfield varsity athletic field. Nathan Wold from Blissfield was second in the high jump clearing 5'6" and BD's Brady Southward also cleared 5'6" but placed third based on the prior height's jump. Zech Bostick, Blissfield was second in the shot put with a throw of 39' 4", John Fick of Britton-Deerfield was fourth with a throw of 36' 4". Fick also won the discus with a throw of 106' 8". Ethan Sieler of Britton Deerfield was fourth with a throw of 104'7".
Leighton Merrit, BD won the long jump with a leap of 17' 3 ". Nate Mills from Whiteford was fourth with a jump of 16' 4".
Brock Prain, Britton-Deerfield won the 100 m dash clocking 11.97 with team mate Eli Browning in a close second at 11.99. David Wolfe, Blissfield was fourth with a time of 12.05.
BD’s Jordan Osbun was the winner of the 300m hurdles in 45.4 and Guillermo Uresti, Britton Deerfield was second in 47.72. Merritt, BD, was also second in the 400 m dash in 57.31.
Lucas Forche captured third in the 1600 m run in 5:01.78. Kevin Daniels of Whiteford was fourth in the race in a time of 5:12.52.
Blissfield boys were second in the distance medley relay with a time of 13:25.97 followed by the Britton Deerfield boys in third with a time of 13:56.09. Britton Deerfield 400 m relay team of Prain, Browning, Southward and Osbun won in a time of 47.71 and Blissfield was second with a time of 48.17. Britton Deerfield throwers took second in the Buffalo Relay to Clinton's first clocking a 55.72 in 400 m. BD also took second in the 800 m relay in 1:42.18.
Girls:
Renee Cantrell of Blissfield threw the discus 94'8" to capture first place. Alexa Long of Whiteford was second with a throw of 84'8".
Rebecca Wielfaert, Britton Deerfield was first in the high jump. She cleared 4'10". Morgan Kulwicki of Whiteford was second at 4'8" and Allison Unsicker of BD was third at 4'6".
Alexa Long, Whiteford won the shot put with a throw of 28' 10 ?", second place went to Tessa Medrea of Britton Deerfield at 27'11", Renee Cantrell, Blissfield took third with 27'9". Bianca Hoffman, Blissfield, was fourth with a throw of 27'6".
Freshman Miranda Johnson, Whiteford, won the long jump in 15' 5" followed by teammates Marissa Brodbeck in second at 13' 9" and Sydney Schick at 13'6" in third place.
Amelia Bockey, Blissfield won the 100 m dash in 13.56. Third went to Devon Wilkerson from Whiteford in a time of 14.99.
Rachel Fisher, Whiteford won the 1600 m run in 5:54.41, Tatyana Pless, Blissfield clocked 6:02.38 to snag a second place finish and Ashley Daniels from Whiteford was third in 6:11.81. Brittany Holdridge Blissfield was fourth with 6:17.32.
Lexie Forche was first in the 300 m hurdles in a time of 54.81 followed by Brittany Southward also of BD in 56.03, third place went to Nina Lepaus, Blissfield with a time of 56.53.
Pless, Blissfield also won the 400 m dash in 1:09.59, followed by Alicia Gotz, Britton-Deerfield in 1:11.43. Third went to Chelsea Brown, Blissfield in 1:14.78 and fourth to Alysha Pirolli in 1:16.93. Marissa Dupree, Whiteford was fifth in 1:22.18.
Blissfield girls took the distance medley relay in a time of 14:34.59 followed by Whiteford and Britton Deerfield.
The Britton-Deerfield girls 400 m relay team of Anna Burnor, Wielfaert, Heldt, and Forche won in a time of 47.71. Blissfield took second in 55.91 and Whiteford was fourth in 59.0.
The Blissfield girls were the winners of the 1600 m relay in 4:39.4 followed by Britton Deerfield in second and Whiteford took fourth.
Blissfield throwers were second in the 400 m Buffalo Relay in a time of 1:06.12 followed by Whiteford in third and Britton Deerfield in fourth.
Blissfield girls also won the 800 m relay in 2:00.12. Britton Deerfield was third.
Co Ed events:
Britton Deerfield co-ed team of Prain, Southward, Burnor and Wielfaert captured the BD relay in a time of 2;58.99 followed by Blissfield in second and Whiteford took fourth.
Britton Deerfield hurdlers also won the shuttle hurdle relay in a time of 1:21.48,Blissfield tied for second place in 1:21.72. and the BD relay was won by Blissfield in 7:04.99, Whiteford was second and the BD team was third.
