GIRLS’ SOFTBALL ACTION April 6, 2011, edition of The Advance

BLISSFIELD — The Blissfield varsity girls softball team played its first game Saturday morning at Cabrini High School in Allen Park. In the first game of the double header the Royals toppled the Monarchs 11-9 after 11 grueling innings. The second game was called off in the third inning due to rain.

BRITTON DEERFIELD — The Britton-Deerfield softball team’s season got off to a rough start Friday evening, when the Patriots faced the Dundee Vikings in a double header at Britton High School. The first game was called when the Patriots trailed 0-11 after five innings of play. They were also “mercied” in the second game, 1-13. Britton-Deerfield will play its next game Friday, April 15 at Whitmore Lake.

WHITEFORD — The temperature might’ve been close to the low 40s, but the Whiteford girls softball team were on fire on Friday in their double-header against Ida. Whiteford triumphed 6-2. The second game of the evening looked as if it would be a replica of the first. Whiteford scored four points at the top of the first, but that’s as far as the comparison goes. Whiteford secured a victory at 11-7.
