The Blissfield Little League’s season opened Thursday, with the official opening ceremony being held Saturday morning.

On Thursday the Tigers, managed by Randy Brenke, played the Red Sox, managed by Brad Slomski, and won 6-2 in a AAA matchup.
On Saturday family members and fans flocked to Farver Park Saturday to see dozens of uniformed sluggers line up for their formal introduction. After the teams and players were introduced, Eric May, who has volunteered for the Blissfield Little League for 12 years, was inducted into the Little League Hall of Fame, an honor reserved for those who have shown the highest level of service and dedication to the league. May has served as a manager of little league teams at every level. He managed two teams at once for six years, served as vice president at one level for nine, and was president of the league in 2007. In 1998 he took the lead in starting the T-ball program, and he spent eight months organizing the Little League’s 50th anniversary celebration. He currently serves as an umpire for the league.
After the ceremony it was time to play ball. The Yankees, managed by Craig Fisher, beat the Athletics, managed by Eric Rogers, 13-0.
Next, the Tigers beat the Indians, managed by Gary Sullivan, 11-1.
The Orioles, managed by Matt Nieman, defeated the Red Sox 3-2 in the last match of the day.
