Blissfield Twp. voters face five issues

Four are renewals; one is new

Four out of five millages Blissfield Township residents have to consider on the May 3 ballot support the fire department in one way or another while one proposal is a road renewal request.

Voters will have four renewals to consider. The first, called Proposal A on the ballot is a 1.4737 mill request for road maintenance and improvements. If passed this levy would generate an estimated $182,870.54 per year for the township through 2014.
The other three renewals are all fire-department related. Proposal B is a .9825 mill request for four years for fire operations. That will generate approximately $121,917.83 per year. Proposal C is also a fire operations renewal for four years as well .0175 mills that will generate $2,171.56 n the first year of the levy. Proposal D is a fire equipment renewal for .5 mills. It will generate $62,044.70 in the first year of the four year period.
The only new proposal is Proposal E that is stated to be used for new fire equipment. The township is asking for an additional .5 mills for four years. This will also raise $62,044.70 in the first year of the levy.
Township residents including residents of the village can vote May 3 at the Blissfield Township Fire Hall from 7 a.m. Until 8 p.m. Cranor said the Blissfield School election takes place there too and anyone living in the Blissfield School district regardless of what township they live in also need to vote at the fire hall. Absentee ballots are available until April 30 and must be returned by May 3. Cranor said the village office will be open until 2 p.m. Saturday to accommodate absentee ballot seekers. A person can also vote absentee at the township office through May 2 but cannot take the ballot with them after April 30, Cranor said.
