OGDEN — A recall election will likely be taking place this August in Ogden Township.
Petitioners gathered more than enough signatures to force a vote seeking recall of Ogden Township Supervisor James Goetz and Ogden Township Clerk Phyllis Gentz.
Joshua Van Camp filed wording last October for the right to circulate petitions against Goetz and Gentz who he has stated violated the public trust and had a conflict of interest because both board members had signed lease agreements with companies that want to construct wind turbines in the township to produce electricity.
Petition circulators turned in approximately 220 signatures Thursday, April 21 to the Lenawee County Clerk’s office. A total of 107 signatures were needed to get the measure on the ballot. Lenawee County Clerk Roxann Holloway said her office has 35 days from the date the petitions were turned in to verify the signatures. She has also notified both Goetz and Gentz and have sent copies of the petitions to them. They have 30 days to challenge any signatures on the petitions.
