Deerfield water system working

Residents may notice changes

DEERFIELD — Deerfield Village residents may have noticed some changes in their water as the new water system in the village has been up and running since April 4. Changes in the water system will help keep the village in compliance with mandatory state regulations on municipal water supplies. Village superintendent Jim Hyder said that residents should have noticed some difference in the water for the better. He said he has also been testing the water and the “nitrates are down to nothing,” which is a compliance issue. He said he will continue monitoring the nitrate levesl and other compliance issues throughout the month. Hyder said there will be a gradual change in the water supply as the PH levels are raised over the next few months. The system includes a computer system that operators are learning to use. Hyder said that it will take two to three more months to make sure everything is running right.
