In an age where libraries are facing cuts in funding and some are being forced to close, it’s nice to see activity in a library. And when that activity happens to be a 75th anniversary celebration, it’s all the more special.

Library director Bob Barringer is looking forward to the birthday celebration of the Schultz-Holmes Memorial Library which is to be held from 1-4 p.m., Saturday, March 12.
“I hope people come out and have a great time,” he said. “We kind of see it as an opportunity to give back to the community."
Food will be available from the Hathaway House, Sugar Girls Baking and Whipped Cupcake Bar. Music from the 1930s will also be played and children’s entertainer Joel Tacey will be on hand for the kids. Blissfield’s Jerry Hayes of WLEN will be the master of ceremonies for the evening, a keynote address will be given by Dr. Jeffery Docking, president of Adrian College, and District Judge Laura Schaedler will make an appearance and help recognize former library staff members and trustees as a part of a rededication ceremony that afternoon.
Also that evening a game of local Blissfield trivia will be played by village council president Mike Gunter, Paula Saxton, and Connie Graf. The trivia game will be hosted by Kelly Heidbreder, morning anchor of WNWO NBC 24 in Toledo.
